on Reporting |
- The
reported results are for the information of the
referring doctor only.
-
For tests performed on specimens received from non-SPL
locations (within and outside Jamnagar), it is presumed
that the specimens belongs to the patient named
or identified, such verification having been carried
out at the point of generation of the said specimen.
-
The technical note given below a test heading is
a general comment on the test - its nature, its
basic interpretative value and any other general
information pertaining to the test performance,
test results, follow-up advice etc. Any specific
interpretation based on evaluation of the patient's
individual results is placed within a demarcated
area entitled "INTERPRETATION".
This "INTERPRETATION"
is given by the Technical Staff or Medical Supervisor
and is specific for that patient.
-
A test requested might not be performed for the
following reasons:
|
Specimen quantity insufficient (inadequate
collection / spillage in transit), in whichcase the
response - "QTY NOT SUFFICIENT"
- will appear against the test name.
Specimen quality unacceptable (hemolysed / clotted /
lipemic / etc.), in which case the response - "TEST
NOT PERFORMED" - will appear against the
test name and the exact reason will appear as a comment
at the end of the report.
Incorrect specimen type, in which case the response
- "TEST NOT PERFORMED" -
will appear against the test name and the exact reason
will appear as a comment at the end of the report, under
"INTERPRETATION".
|
-
It is expected that a fresh specimen will be sent
for the purpose of reporting
on the same parameter(s).
-
A test requested might yield "INVALID
RESULTS" for various technical reasons
and this response will appear against the test name
followed by a detailed comment at the end of the
report. It is expected that a fresh specimen will
be sent for the purpose of reporting on the same
parameter(s).
-
A report that carries a "PRELIMINARY"
status signifies that results are yet to be reported
for one or more of the tests, or else, as is the
case with many microbiology tests, a "FINAL"
culture, identification or drug susceptibility result
might be pending. In such cases, the descriptor
"RESULTS PENDING" - will
print alongside the test name in the "RESULTS"
column and will be replaced by the test results
whenever the same are ready. The report will, when
completed, acquire a "FINAL"
status.
|
-
In the event that results are withheld for the purpose
of correlation or verification by reassay, the response
- "RESULTS HELD FOR REASSAY"
- will appear against the test name, and the report
will bear a "PRELIMINARY"
status. This response will be replaced by the results
on finalisation and the report will then bear a
"FINAL" status.
